Entrepreneurs Complete First Round of Pitches

On September 9, the Wells Fargo Green Team heard the first round of pitches from food entrepreneurs engaged in the 2nd Annual Entrepreneur Invitational sponsored by Wells Fargo. Each of the eight ambitious food entrepreneurs shared their products and provided a ten-minute pitch of their business plan to a panel of Wells Fargo Green Team Judges. To prepare, Jason Feldman, the No More Empty Pots Entrepreneurship Manager, refined business plans for the first round of the Entrepreneurship Invitational supported by Wells Fargo. They worked together to clearly define their concepts, identify resources, understand the customer, and practiced presenting their pitches.

A Tasty Experience

Wells Fargo Green Team members eagerly sampled sweet and savory buchty, a Czech pastry, from Marie at Pekarna MVS, jams and jellies crafted by Paul at P & G Preserves with luscious local produce grown by Paul at his urban farm and traditional Venezuelan empanada’s from Empanada Kitchen where owner Sam uses local ingredients to make the authentic street food. Team members raved about the green sauce served with the empanadas. With feedback about their pitches and products from Wells Fargo team members, the aspiring entrepreneurs are prepping for the second round in October where the field will be narrowed to three from five. If you see them sampling their products around town, stop by to taste and say hello.

Inspired by Food?

Developing food entrepreneurs that use local products from local farmers provides support to our local food system. These emerging food businesses will be a place for local farms to provide products while creating employment for the community and access to fresh local foods!
