Food Hub Groundbreaking

Please join us on Thursday, January 21, 2016 at 10:30AM at No More Empty Pots for the groundbreaking of the Collaborative Community Centered Food Hub. The food hub will bring jobs, workforce training, hands-on STEM for youth, business incubation and small business support. Two historic buildings at 8501 and 8503 North 30th Street will undergo an adaptive reuse to become the food hub designed by Slate Architecture and constructed by TAS Construction.

After the ceremony take a short stroll down the sidewalk to 8511 North 30th Street to enjoy light refreshments provided by local artisans. Look for the No More Empty Pots signs.

Join No More Empty Pots and Nebraska Sustainable Agriculture Society for our first joint fundraiser at Metropolitan Community College, Swanson Conference Center. Starting at $75 you get to a five course meal made from local foods by #5LocalChefs nominated by their growers. Our featured guest speaker on the power of food is Robert Egger, President and Founder of LA Kitchen (, which recovers fresh fruits and vegetables to fuel a culinary arts job training program for men and women coming out of foster care and older men and women returning from incarceration. He is also CEO of Strong Food, L.A. Kitchen’s social enterprise business, which employs graduates of the training program, and competes for food service contracts to serve healthy meals to seniors in Los Angeles.
